This year Memphis in Poland (MIP) has organized a contest called Fighting the Unknown. The purpose of MIP-Fighting the Unknown is to create opportunities for cross-cultural engagement between youth from Memphis, TN and the Sopot-Gdańsk-Gdynia, the Tri-Cities, Poland. The focus is on music, arts and civil rights topics in response to the world-wide COVID-19 pandemic, potential future pandemics, threats to climate change, and social global issues.
Creating opportunities is one of the focus areas for Memphis in Poland.

Memphis in Poland - Fighting the Unknown contest offers Polish high school students an opportunity to create artistic work, representing their experience and reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic. The prize for the winning individuals or groups will be a trip to Memphis, TN, where the students will learn about Memphis’ culture and engage in cross-cultural discussions and activities focused on creative expression, civil rights and pandemic relief efforts. We hope that the involvement of young people will help them process the difficult emotions regarding COVID-19 and have a long-term positive effect.
Memphis in Poland Festival is a 501(c)(3) organization. Gifts are deductible to the full extent allowable under IRS regulations.
